Gungahlin Cemetery opened in 1979 and features a large lake and many bird species that create a peaceful place of rest. On the grounds of the park is the ACT’s only publicly owned crematorium which includes a purpose built viewing room for specific religious and cultural practices.
Gungahlin Cemetery
Gungahlin Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Canberra and accommodates various sections by faith denomination including Aboriginal, Islamic, Jewish and Orthodox areas. It is a beautiful cemetery to visit all year around, especially in autumn when the leaves change colour. Gungahlin Cemetery provides the broadest range of burial options of all the parks, which are explained in more detail in burial services, and include:

Gungahlin Crematorium
The Gungahlin Crematorium is the ACT’s only publicly owned crematorium officially opened at Gungahlin Cemetery on 15 March 2021. The crematorium is the second in the ACT, with the existing privately owned and operated crematorium across the road.
With a dedicated viewing room, Canberra Memorial Park can help facilitate religious or cultural services for up to 25 people onsite or broadcast to a wider audience with the use of cameras in the room for live or recorded ceremonies.
