Canberra Memorial Parks new Gungahlin memorial hall and Indigo lounge are now open
The new Memorial Hall and Indigo Lounge supports meaningful and inclusive memorial services for people of all faiths, beliefs and cultural backgrounds.
Key features include:
- capacity for up to 150 people, including overflow space
- sky‑lit internal courtyard with a circular roof opening
- tranquil garden setting that creates a calm and reflective atmosphere.
The flexible design allows the space to be arranged in different layouts and orientations to suit individual preferences and traditions.
A catafalque (a raised stand for a coffin) is available, allowing families and communities to set up the hall in a way that best reflects their loved one’s life.
Weather protected arrival and gathering
The facility includes a porte cochère, which is a covered driveway large enough to accommodate a hearse. This allows for dignified arrivals that are protected from the elements.
This sheltered area also provides a comfortable space for guests to gather upon arrival before the service begins.
Modern facilities and technology
The Memorial Hall is equipped with modern audio‑visual facilities, allowing families to:
- share photos, videos and music
- play tribute presentations and memories
- broadcast ceremonies, if desired.
